I have been getting a few questions regarding my skin care routine. Of course everyone has different skin thus there is no one fits all skin care.
However, Hydration, exfoliation and protection are pretty much basics that everyone should spend time on to keep their skin looking good.
I have outlined my personal skin care routine – my skin is combination – normal/dry
Day time – Hydrate and protect
In the morning I don’t find it necessary to wash my face with a face wash especially because I have dry skin in some areas. I just wash with water and apply a moisturizer.
For oily skin washing twice may not be a bad idea.
Apply a lotion with at least SPF 15. A lot of people tend to break out with sunscreen however, it takes some trial and error. Get one that doesn’t contain oil. I love these two by Olay SPF 15 or 30.
L’Oreal has a great mist spray for the body.
Night time – Clean & renew
This is the time to wash everything off of your face. Even if you don’t have make up on but applied SPF lotion during the day you must wash it off.
I have super sensitive eyes so I use Cetaphil around my eyes and to remove the mascara. Apply a bit on your lashes and let it sit for a few seconds.
The mascara will come off easier and you will not be pulling on your lashes. I then use some makeup wipes to remove all makeup and then wash my face.
The makeup wipes aren’t necessary because you can use Cetaphil for the same purpose. However I prefer to do it this way.
Let your face wash do the rest of the removing. I tried the Youth Code by L’Oreal and it has been working well for my skin so I will be sticking to it!
I then apply the Alpha Hydrox AHA Souffle – It is a great product for exfoliation while you sleep. This product can be a bit drying and makes your skin sensitive
– be sure to apply SPF during the day with this. I LOVE this stuff!
You can use it twice a day however, I use it only at night.
I then apply a moisturizing cream with hyaluronic acid which helps your skin maintain moisture. Any moisturizing cream will do.
Weekly exfoliation – Remove dead Skin
About every other day, towards the end of the shower, I use the St. Ives scrub to exfoliate my skin. Pat your face dry after the shower and immediately apply moisturizer.
I also use this hydrating and exfoliating mask about once a week.
All the products, with the exception of the two night creams, can be found at any drugstore or Walmart.
These products and routine work great for me personally. They may or may not work for you. BUT again the things to remember are: to clean, exfoliate, hydrate and protect no matter what skin type you have.
Also remember that water hydrates your skin from inside out so don’t forget to drink! Good food and especially exercise can only make your skin better!!
